How to Sell Your House Quickly
When you’re looking to sell your home, how can you get top dollar and still sell your house quickly? Realty is confusing to many people, and while a great real estate agent is important, here are a few things you can do yourself to help get you out of your old home and into your new one more quickly.
Remove all clutter! Try walking into your home from the front door, and seeing it as a stranger would see it. Do you have too many personal effects on your shelves and walls? Does the furniture in any of your rooms feel too crowded or too sparse? Many people experience the greatest issue with crowding a room with too much furniture and decoration. This makes a potential buyer feel that the room itself is crowded, and can turn them off of making an offer. Look at your things with an objective eye, and box up and store non-essential items to give your house the best showing. This process is called ‘staging’, and your agent can give you some valuable tips on just how to do it. A less cluttered space also allows a buyer to envision more possibilities for the rooms.
After you’ve cleaned up the clutter, look at the house itself. Is the paint fresh? If you are not planning to re-paint your house before selling, wash the walls to freshen the paint instead. All grout in the kitchens and bathrooms should be clean and in good condition. If it is not, it is relatively easy and inexpensive to replace, and makes the rooms feel both cleaner and newer. Repair or replace any dripping faucets, and check window and door seals to make sure they are snug.
A brisk cleaning makes any home show better. Clean windows always have a better view. If you have wood or tile floors, using a product specific to the material to polish them will show them to a buyer at their best. Take a few minutes to polish up faucets, doorknobs and fixtures. Dust each room from the ceiling down, and allow as much natural light in as possible.
Taking these few simple, inexpensive steps allows you to display all the potential of your house to potential buyers.
